Rajmil Fischman "I compose out of necessity: to distil, re-create and externalize lived experience; to realize works which are self-contained micro-universes, with their own rules, defying the limitations of what is perceived as reality; to touch and move other human beings. " Rajmil Fischman is a composer, researcher and teacher. His main activities focus on instrumental and electroacoustic music composition, electroacoustic music theory and music software development. His compositions have received international performances and been broadcast worldwide. Performances include events such as New Music North (Canada); Spring in Havana (Cuba); Sonorities (Belfast, UK); Sonoimagenes (Argentina); Festival of Electroacoustic Music AI-MAAKO (Chile), Zeppelín Sobre el Control (Spain); Sound Electric '05 (Ireland); MANTIS (UK); TransAcoustiques/TransAcusticos (France and Chile); Boston Cyberarts Festival (USA); International Computer music Conference (Montreal, Hong Kong, Ann Arbor, Berlin, Gothebörg, Florida, Barcelona, New Orleans); and many others. His writings have been published by the Journal of New Music Research, Organised Sound, Computer Music Journal, Leonardo, Contemporary Music Review and other publications. He has produced a variety of software, including AL & ERWIN, an algorithmic composition graphics environment using granular synthesis. He is Professor of Composition at Keele University, where he established the MA/MSc courses in Digital Music Technology and the Computer Music Laboratory. He was artistic director and principal conductor of the Keele Philharmonic Society, Director of Music and Music Technology Porgramme Director. He was a funding member of the Composers' Desktop Project (CDP). He is member of RedAsla, the Peruvian Circle of Composers (Circomper) and Sonic Arts Network, UK. |
