Mario Verandi Mario Verandi, as composer and sound artist, works with new technologies to expand the artistic boundaries of music and sound. In addition to composing, he collaborates extensively with visual artists and choreographers in sound design for art installations, dance, theatre, film, and radio. Born in 1960 in San Nicolás, Buenos Aires, Mario Verandi studied music in Argentina, at Phonos Studios in Barcelona, and at the University of Birmingham where he was a member of BEAST (Birmingham Electro-Acoustic Sound Theater). His awards include the Bourges International Electroacoustic Music Competition (France), Musica Nova Competition (Prague), CIEJ Electronic Music Awards, Prix Ars Electronica (Linz), and Stockholm Electronic Art Awards (Sweden). He has been a participant in The Exchange (London) and in the ICPCC (International Course for professsional composers and choreographers) in the UK. He has been an artist-in-residence at La Muse en Circuit (Paris) and in the DAAD Artists-in-Residence Program (Berlin). He has received commissions from the BBC (UK), Sonic Arts Network (UK), Arts Council of England, DAAD (Germany), Deutschland Radio Berlin and Sender Freies Berlin. His works have been performed and broadcast worldwide and featured at festivals such as the Florida Electroacoustic Music Festival (USA), Inventionen (Berlin), ISCM World Music Days (Manchester), Festival Musica (Strasbourg), State of the Nation (London), Rumours Concerts (UK), and Stockholm Electronic Music Festival. |
